Empowering Rural Girls Through Technology
TinkerToli Kuntalpur is the first-of-its-kind rural FabLab initiative designed to bridge the digital divide in villages of India. We believe that children in rural communities should not only use technology but also create with it.
About Us
Transforming rural education through technology and innovation
Our Story
Our journey began in Kuntalpur, Gujarat — a village where less than 1% of students have ever touched a computer at home, yet over 80% have access to a smartphone. For girls, the gap is even sharper: while they grow up surrounded by devices, they rarely get the chance to learn, experiment, or build with technology.
TinkerToli was founded by Dhruv Saidava, who was born in Kuntalpur in 1990 and is now part of the global maker ecosystem. For him, this mission is deeply personal:
"If I cannot uplift my own village, I cannot imagine upgrading India fully."
The story comes full circle with his mother, a retired village teacher. Despite studying in the 1960s, she had the same level of access to computers as a girl born in the 2000s. In an age of Artificial Intelligence, this generational stagnation became the call to action.
Community Learning Space
Our Bold Goals
- Introduce 50+ rural girls to digital literacy in 2025
- Build a sustainable FabLab within 1,000 days
- Turn Kuntalpur into a model digital village for India
Our Impact
At its heart, TinkerToli is more than a classroom. It is a movement of inclusion, creativity, and empowerment where children learn not just to type or browse, but to design, code, and innovate — preparing them for the 21st century.
Vision & Mission
Building a digital future for rural India
Our Vision
To make Kuntalpur a model digital village, where every child — especially girls — is equipped with 21st-century skills. From typing and internet safety to coding, problem-solving, and Artificial Intelligence, our vision is to ensure that no child in Kuntalpur is left behind in the digital age.

Researching real problems and presenting solutions
Portfolio-Based Learning
Every child builds a portfolio of projects that reflects their journey — making progress visible for parents, mentors, and future opportunities.
Safeguarding & Child Protection
Children's safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do
Safe Learning Spaces
- Classes are conducted in a dedicated community room equipped with laptops, printer, and TV
- Sessions are held during daytime hours (1 hour per day) to align with family comfort and safety
- Each child learns in an inclusive, pressure-free environment, guided by the principle of self-respect and mutual respect
Trusted Mentors
- Mentors are selected from the local community, ensuring familiarity and trust
- To build parental confidence, we currently maintain a gender-to-gender mentor model — girls are mentored by women
- Mentors are not just instructors but role models, inspiring students to continue their learning journey
Internet Safety
- Supervised browsing only — children access the internet under mentor observation
- Learning focuses on safe digital practices: strong passwords, spotting misinformation, and avoiding unsafe content
- A gradual approach ensures that confidence builds before independent use

Our Students & Community
The first digital pioneers of Kuntalpur
The First Digital Pioneers of Kuntalpur
In September 2025, we welcomed 50+ girls from Kuntalpur into the world of digital learning. For most of them, it was the first time they had touched a laptop or typed their name on a keyboard.
These girls are stepping boldly into a space where their mothers and even grandmothers had little or no digital access. By giving them the opportunity to learn today, we are planting the seeds of generational change.
Students Learning Together
What They Learn
- 🌸 Basic Skills – typing, creating documents, and making presentations
- 🌸 Safe Internet Use – how to search, learn, and explore without fear
- 🌸 Coding & Creativity – building small projects in our FabLab
- 🌸 Problem-Solving – using technology to design solutions for real challenges
From Students to Mentors
Our long-term vision is that today's students will become tomorrow's mentors. When a girl learns digital skills, she does not keep them to herself — she shares them with her siblings, friends, and neighbors. This peer-to-peer learning is what makes TinkerToli a true community-driven movement.
